I'm seriously considering entering the Whoppie Pie challenge Gomer issued in the Newsletter. I would just like to say that it's actually "Whoopie Pie" (love you Merilyn!!! ;D) and that I make a darn mean Pumpkin Whoopie Pie. No Touch Hole says they are the best he's ever had. Firecracker, what do you think? You've had a chance to offer an opinion... Are there any others out there jumping in the challenge??? M 'n M

None of that fake junk. Whoopie pies are made w cocoa and the filling is mostly marshmallow fluff & confectionery sugar . All these weird flavors may be good cookies but they're not real whoopie pies. Same as folks think you can barbeque beef or chicken. My mother made a batch at least once or twice a year that I can remember back into the 50's in Georgia. Also got my grandmother in Searsport to make them for me when I'd stay with them. It was her recipe my mother used anyway. Real food for real people.

Dream on, weird flavors didn't start showing up til all the yuppies from Mass & NY started showing up. Martha Stewart's idea of cute food. They may be good tasting cookies but they aren't whoopie pies.

Hate to say it but you don't know for nothin'. I don't care what the flatlanders say/do, I know what a whoopie pie is and it doesn't have anything to do with marshmallow fluff OR confectionary sugar. Also, if you are making them with "cookies" you are doing it wrong, it is a cooked filling between two "cakes". So, you can think whatever you want, I know better. M 'n M

Whelped? What exactly are you saying??? I'm Italian and Irish, don't push the buttons! Been having an ongoing argument with Rhonda about the proper pronunciation of "Bangor". It's a hopeless cause. Just because I've lived in Maine my ENTIRE LIFE, apparently doesn't mean that I know how to pronounce it! If it were meant to be pronounced BANGER it would have been spelled BANGER!!! ARGH!!!!!!!!!!! Its the stressed second syllable in words.. BanGOR (as if it was spelled like Bangore).. FayETTE.. that sounds odd to us.. Yet people here say Auguster.. and idear.. lol. all good fun
as far as Whoopie Pies go.. have at it.. never had one lol

You can send me a personal message and I'll try and remember to send you the recipe. Won't share it over the board, and whatever you do, DO NOT SHARE them with DOC. I'm sure he wouldn't lower himself to eat a "non" whoopie pie anyway...... M 'n M

Roy, the only reason that I have been stressing the second syllable is to try and make you understand that it is "OR" not "ER" at the end. If you hear someone talking about Bangor, it usually sounds more like Bang-or................. Of course, what do I know having only grown up 15 minutes away from the city............! M 'n M
