Shot this deer in the neck after watching it walk in to my stand. It dropped but was paralized so I cut its throat. It was just after light 50 yds away. It took me 25 minutes sighted in on it to see if he had the required 3 points on at least one side. He weighed 140 dressed big body deer small rack. Got a total of 62 lbs of meat i processed every ounce of meat on the deer. Coyotes will be disappointed! Attachments:

I used a Howa model 1500 .223. With a 64 grain bullet. I had someone tell me that .223 was to small of a round for deer so I proved them wrong two years in a row. Just have to take smart shots is all I told him.

Well, the old saying is; "Guns don't kill people--Gapping holes in vital organs kill people!"
But I've also said, more than once; "A small bullet in the right place beats the hell out of a big bullet that misses the vitals!"
I've known a few hunters that I wish I could have beaten this last saying into!
Good shooting, Zack!
