I need help getting skunk perfume off my trap. I caught 1 feral cat and 2 skunks. I need to get my indoor cat back inside and he will not go near the trap due to the smell. I would appreciate any and all advice. I seem to be getting really good at trapping skunks. The last one I trapped was a baby I gave him piece of banana to show I was not going to hurt him but now by trap smells bad. I could buy a new trap but I just fixed the house so that when I get my cat back in the house he will not find it so easy to rip open the screens. Thank you for any and all advice. I can expand the story if there is interest with the skunk-capades My next possible option ask Billy. wolfeye97

I have no experience with traps however I did get some with my K9 shepherd....The old tomato juice remedy will give you a h--- of a mess to wash out...F.C. is correct, douche will work very well however when you ask a clerk if it comes in guarts or gallons you will get a wide eyed stare (don't ask how I know). A couple of good washings and rinseings with Dawn dish soap followed by a sturation with hydrogen perodide is as good as anything I found. You will be able to tell how it worked the next rainy or humid day. Good luck

I used to use skunk scent when I trapped so all of my traps smelled like skunk. It covers the human odor animals know what a skunk smells like and think its normal. So just leave it alone before you ruin it and no other animal will come near because it smells. Like a house of ill repute on a satuday night, and massengill.

Just put it outside the smell will eventually go away. What is the trap made of living room carpet or somthing. You are really making a mountain out of a mole hill. Why do you even need the thing inside anyway my traps are hanging on a tree branch. Do what you want but your sounding like a serious flatlander. Im done with this. And by the way just because it stinks does not mean its unhealthy its skunk its supposed to stink. It doesn't hurt skunk any. I once went 3 months without a bath, on the equator and I was in top physical condition.

Sounds to me like a live trap, get some trap black mix with gasoline and then dip or brush it on the trap, then hang to dry. The cat may be getting wise. I have to say I agree with the german shepard! Nit Wit

The 2 gallons of vinegar and Dawn dish soap seemed to work. I was able to catch the wrong cat. There is a feral cat that I would not mind getting rid of. youtu.be/x6BdeVZt4kg
