Arthur Richardson
Searsmont — On Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, Arthur Richardson passed away at age 74.
Arthur was born July 13, 1946, in Pasadena, Calif., to Arthur and Jane (Vance) Richardson.
He was commissioned into the Navy July 1, 1968, and served for over 20 years. He retired Aug. 1, 1988. On April 10, 1993, he married Cheryl Ann (Ferguson) Richardson.
Arthur had a passion, in recent years, for hunting and historical reenacting with the Ancient Ones of Maine and at different venues around the Northeast.
His vegetable gardens were always prolific, and as someone once said, “Martha-Stewart tidy.”
Arthur was also an accomplished sailor and loved being on the water.
He loved traveling to and living in Italy, especially Capo d’Orlando on the Island of Sicily.
He enjoyed singing in the choir at the UU Church in Belfast. He was also a huge presence at the church, wearing many hats. He will be missed – especially in the kitchen!
Arthur also enjoyed volunteering at WERU Community Radio answering phones during pledge drives. If Scrooge had called, he would now be a sustaining member!
He was known for his generosity, his twinkling eyes, his easy smile and witty sense of humor. He was a truly good man.
Arthur was especially fond of the medical staff and others at the Oncology and Infusion Therapy Center at Waldo County General Hospital. He and his wife, Cheryl, were always treated with kindness and hope. They all laughed together, cried together and enjoyed lots of special treats prepared by both Arthur and Cheryl.
Arthur was preceded in death by his father, Arthur, and his mother, Jane.
His wife, Cheryl, and many, many dear friends survive him and will miss him immeasurably.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arthur’s memory to the Oncology and Infusion Therapy Center, Waldo County General Hospital, 118 Northport Ave., Belfast, ME 04915
