Steph and I would like to thank The Ancient Ones for coming out to the Kennebec Valley Sportsman's Weekend! We had three camps-- Doc, Shine and Mini Shine, and Dick and Sean. We also had several Ancient Ones come in to check things out on Friday and Saturday.
Dick's 'Black Powder Basics' Demo was a big hit with young and old alike!
This is the sort of event that we need to keep doing in order to bring in young folks and new families! Since it was a first time event, the turnout was a little smaller than we had hoped for--but a couple hundred people really had a great time--and The Ancient Ones were a part of that experience for them!
I have been approached by many people who camped last weekend and asked to do it again next year. They have even offered help, and leads for sponsorships to help defray costs and draw in more public. I am working on details now to see if we can pull it off.
With a little luck, next year we will have an even bigger and better event!

Just make say any that say they'll help sponsor put their money in up front, not just promise and leave you holding the bag.And make sure you schedule it far enough away time wise from the big vous next summer so folks aren't too burned out.

Yes, we need reliable sponsors. I have a few lined up that are looking promising. As for timing--it will probably be the first weekend of August again. This does come in conflict with the end of the big A/O 'vous...but the fact is, the other possible dates conflict with events that are more likely to draw my core audience away. I would love to have an Ancient Ones Camp at next years event, but the event can not revolve around A/O availability.
